This course is built to continue to evolve, giving you lifetime access and consistently updated case studies inside the course
Module 1: Ankle and Foot Assessment & Rehab Fundamentals
Learn the core principles behind our approach to ankle and foot rehab.
You’ll learn how to identify the likely source of symptoms, assess irritability and load tolerance, and decide where rehab should start.
Instead of jumping straight into strengthening, you’ll learn how to determine what the ankle or foot needs now, and what it’s ready for next.
Module 1 outline:
- Ankle & foot tolerance & capacity principles
- Ankle & foot movement overload analysis
- How to create a ankle & foot movement options map
- Ankle & foot range of motion classification system
- Ankle & foot contractile classification system
- How to create an ankle & foot movement dosage map
- IKN test – treat – rehab process
- Two ankle & foot pain case scenarios
Module 2: Ankle & Foot Assessment Process
In this module, you’ll learn how to systematically assess the ankle and foot, identify what may be driving symptoms, and determine which physical qualities need to be addressed.
You’ll combine symptom behaviour, joint loading, muscle function, and force production to build a clearer picture of the person in front of you.
The goal isn’t just to find what’s “weak” or “tight,” but to understand what provokes symptoms, what the ankle and foot can currently tolerate, and where the biggest rehab opportunities lie.
Module 2 outline:
- Ankle & foot biomechanics
- Standing visual inspection
- Standing foot reaction assessment
- Ankle dorsiflexion ROM assessments
- Targeted ankle & foot ROM assessments
- Achilles tendon assessments
- Ankle plantar flexor force production assessments
- Ankle inverter & evertor force production assessments
- Toe flexor force production assessments
- Heel pain case scenario
- Lateral ankle pain case scenario
Module 3: Ankle & Foot Rehabilitation Strategies
In this module, you’ll learn how to turn your assessment findings into a targeted, progressive ankle & foot rehabilitation plan.
You’ll learn how to progress from strategies designed to restore comfortable movement and improve tolerance, through targeted muscle loading, and ultimately towards integrated strengthening and higher-level ankle & foot function.
Every strategy is broken down in detail, including why we use it, when we use it, how we dose it, and how we progress or regress it based on the client’s response.
Module 3 outline:
- Local ankle plantar flexor loading strategies
- Plantar flexor & invertor coordinative loading strategies
- Plantar flexor & evertor coordinative loading strategies
- Local invertor & evertor loading strategies
- Toe flexor local & coordinative loading strategies
- Ankle dorsiflexion ROM strategies
- Foot pronation ROM strategies
- Supination & toe extension ROM strategies
- Heel pain case scenario – rehab plan
- Lateral ankle pain case scenario – rehab plan
