Engaging Hands & Feet Decreases Sympathetic Nerve Activity

Attached is an interesting research paper, linking the sensory feedback from the hands and feet to reduced sympathetic nerve activity in skeletal muscles. The sensory feedback from these distal “endpoints” of the limb may help to modulate autonomic responses during challenging exercises, and this highlights another important reason that we use the hands and feet to guide how we sequence our loading strategies during rehab and training.
